Artificial Turf in Colorado Springs

Realistic, pet-friendly synthetic lawn that looks great year-round, with zero water, zero mowing, and zero fertilizer.

When Artificial Turf Makes Sense

For most Colorado Springs homeowners, a full xeriscape conversion with native plants and rock provides the best combination of beauty, water savings, and CSU rebate eligibility. But there are situations where a patch of green lawn appearance genuinely matters: a dedicated play area for children, a pet yard where dogs will be running, or a small front lawn area where a traditional green look is part of the neighborhood aesthetic.

In these cases, high-quality artificial turf is a smart solution. Modern synthetic grass products are dramatically better than the flat, plasticky products of previous generations. They are designed to look and feel realistic, they drain quickly, and they stand up to heavy use from pets and children without wearing down.

Benefits of Synthetic Lawn

  • Zero water use: No irrigation required after installation. Ever.
  • No mowing: Eliminate weekly lawn care from your schedule permanently.
  • No fertilizer: No chemicals needed to keep it looking green.
  • Pet-friendly: Drains quickly, easy to clean, durable under heavy traffic.
  • Year-round green: Stays green through Colorado winters when natural grass goes dormant and brown.
  • Allergy reduction: No grass pollen from your own yard.
  • Long lifespan: Quality synthetic turf lasts 15-25 years with minimal maintenance.

Installation Process

Proper artificial turf installation is the key to a long-lasting, great-looking result. We begin by removing existing turf and excavating 3-4 inches of soil to create the base. We then install a compacted crushed aggregate base layer for drainage and stability, followed by a weed barrier, and then the turf itself, secured along the edges and seamed invisibly where sections meet. A final infill layer of crumb rubber or silica sand is brushed in to give the turf its realistic stand-up texture.

Combining Turf with Xeriscape

Many of our projects combine artificial turf in one area (a backyard play zone, a pet run) with xeriscape native planting and rock in the front yard and other areas. This gives homeowners the green space they want where they genuinely use it, while dramatically reducing water use across the rest of the property. The combination approach also maximizes CSU rebate eligibility by converting as much irrigated turf area as possible to water-wise alternatives.
